On January 7, the weather was mild and sunny.
To promote traditional culture and deepen the thematic significance of the festival, a group of 23 journalists from Ji'an Radio and Television Station visited and extended greetings to Jack Machine Tools. With a fresh new look and the integration of traditional culture into the company’s operations, Jack Machine Tools’ entire team infused a new spirit into the celebration of the 16th Journalists’ Day in New China.
“Who are we?” “We’re the Jack people!”
“Do what?” “Build a great grinding machine for China!”
“How do we do it?” “Touch life with your heart!”
“What are our family precepts?” “Cultivate virtue in the home and revitalize the national industry”...
Around 8 a.m. that day, led by Chen Huagui, the elder of the Jack Machine Tool family, the members of the Jack family began revisiting cultural rituals such as “family ethos, family precepts, and family rules.”
“When the Great Way is practiced, the world belongs to all; we select the worthy and capable, emphasize trustworthiness and foster harmony. Thus, people do not love only their own kin, nor do they cherish only their own children…” Accompanied by classical music, Jack’s family performs morning exercises and dances the “Great Harmony Dance of Rituals,” using sign language to convey the profound charm of China’s five-thousand-year-old culture. They read “The Rules for Students,” savoring the timeless wisdom of sages and virtuous masters—here, their inner selves are elevated and refined... Witnessing a swath of deep blue dancing beneath the azure sky—the scene is truly breathtaking.
Led by Deputy Editor-in-Chief Peng Xia'an, the reporters from Ji'an Radio and Television Station first observed the company’s morning meeting ritual and then headed straight to the production floor, visiting and offering condolences to employees facing difficulties: veteran Xiao Shuigen, who was wounded in the Vietnam War; Wang Suhua, the team leader of the cleaning crew; and the family of Lin Junxiang from the quality inspection department. The station’s leaders warmly inquired about the families’ daily lives and whether they were experiencing any challenges at work or home, and presented them with supplies prepared by the station—such as winter quilts, rice, and cooking oil.
Subsequently, accompanied by Elder Chen Huagui, the delegation from the radio and television station toured and examined the company’s corporate culture development and on-site workshop management. The visiting group showed great interest in the company’s management model of “putting the ‘Disciples’ Rules’ into practice and building a family-like culture.” They stopped at every “environmental” teaching point throughout the factory grounds, carefully studied the workshop notice boards and each cultural wall, and eagerly snapped photos—“click, click”—at every opportunity.
At the scene, General Peng asked questions and engaged in heartfelt conversations with frontline workers. He highly praised the spirit of highly educated professionals like Liu Shengyuan—those holding master’s degrees—who remain steadfast on the front lines, patiently endure loneliness, and dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to “serving Made in China.”
At 9:30, all members of the Jack family gathered in the conference room to welcome the reporters. A representative of the Jack family extended festive greetings and best wishes to the reporters, recited the poem “Journalist, I Sing for You,” and performed the traditional poetic piece “My Ancestors Were Called Yan and Huang.” The family patriarch, Chen Huagui, presented flowers to the reporter representatives and paid them his highest respects.
The elder Chen Huagui delivered a lecture titled “Cultivating Jack’s Glory Through Virtuous Culture” to journalists and their families. The lecture revolved around the concept of “filial piety,” the I Ching, Wang Yangming’s School of Mind, and cultural differences between East and West. With a humorous and engaging style, peppered with insightful quotations and vivid real-life examples, Mr. Chen kept the audience utterly captivated and reluctant to leave. The entire lecture lasted one hour, brimming with fascinating insights and moments of profound depth, punctuated by frequent bursts of enthusiastic applause.
“How can enterprises strike a balance between modern management practices and the integration of traditional culture? Among the various cultural elements, which one does your company place the greatest emphasis on?” After listening to the lecture, the session moved on to a Q&A segment featuring questions from journalist representatives. Everyone responded with humor and wit. Deputy Editor-in-Chief Peng Xiao’an delivered a concluding speech, expressing his deep appreciation for the sacred duty of the “journalist” profession. Quoting Robert Capa, the war correspondent famous for his photo “The Falling Soldier,” he said, “If your photos aren’t good enough, it’s because you’re not close enough.” He encouraged all journalists to spend more time at the grassroots level, gain a deeper understanding of people’s sentiments, and create even more impactful works. With the remark, “Entering the factory gate was truly awe-inspiring; after walking through the entire facility, I can say this trip was absolutely worth it,” he highly praised the insights gained from visiting Jack Machine Tools.
In just under three hours of interaction, the journalists experienced firsthand the warm and welcoming atmosphere of “home.” They all expressed that here, by leveraging “family culture” as a foundation to build a “virtuous and ethical” enterprise, we’re taking a three-pronged approach—cognitive awareness, recognition, and behavioral alignment—to guide our “family members” to take filial piety as their cornerstone, view accumulating good deeds as a source of pride, and uphold moral integrity as their core principle. Through this gradual process, we’re shaping individuals with family-based filial piety, professional integrity, and social public virtue, steadily establishing the norms of goodness and ethics for the Jack family. The efforts to build a virtuous enterprise are already beginning to yield tangible results. Linked by “traditional culture,” this experience not only showcased the remarkable achievements in Jack Machine Tool’s cultivation of traditional culture but also allowed the journalists to spend an exceptionally ordinary yet meaningful holiday.
