In the afternoon of April 26, the 9th “Jack Scholarship and Aid Fund” award ceremony was solemnly held in the Mathematics and Physics Academic Report Hall of Jinggangshan University. Attending the ceremony were Chen Xiaolin, Vice President of Jinggangshan University; Chen Huagui, Chairman of Jack Machine Tool; Yao Haibiao, Assistant to the Chairman; and Chen Qiufeng, Director of the General Office. In order to give back to society and continuously show concern for and support education in the old revolutionary base areas, Jack Group established the “Jack Scholarship and Aid Fund” at Jinggangshan University in 2006, donating 100,000 RMB annually specifically to reward and assist outstanding students who excel both academically and morally, encouraging them to study diligently and aspire to achieve great success.
Over the past nine years, the Jack Scholarship has provided financial aid and recognition to a total of 1,170 college students, with cumulative donations reaching 900,000 yuan. This makes it the largest social-funded scholarship program currently offered by Jinggangshan University in terms of total accumulated funding. At the award ceremony, Elder Chen Huagui delivered a speech. He said, “I hope that our annual, regular act of kindness will inspire our students and spread a spirit and positive energy throughout society.” He encouraged the students to focus on three key aspects—setting clear goals, staying focused, and honing their expertise—to diligently acquire knowledge, enhance their abilities, and take confident steps forward on the critical journey of their lives.
Principal Chen expressed his heartfelt gratitude and highest respect for Jack’s selfless acts of kindness over the past decade—acts that have required no reward and carried no strings attached! He also shared four hopes with the students who have received support as well as all other students: First, firmly uphold the Jinggangshan Spirit and become a person with lofty aspirations; second, bravely take on responsibilities and become a person with a strong sense of duty; third, study diligently and become a person committed to sustainable development; fourth, remain grateful and become a person full of compassion.
After the award ceremony, Professor Chen Huagui, a visiting professor at Jingda University and also known as “the Elder,” delivered an inspiring lecture on the theme of “Traditional Culture and Internet Thinking.” Drawing from four key aspects—Internet thinking, cultural differences between East and West, loyalty, filial piety, integrity, and propriety, as well as the pursuit of life’s happiness—he vividly explained what it means to live a life that is both right and aligned with one’s destiny, and what truly constitutes a happy life. With his witty and humorous speaking style and a wealth of relatable, down-to-earth real-life examples, he earned enthusiastic applause and high praise from both teachers and students. During the Q&A session with the students, the Elder emphasized that while acquiring knowledge and enhancing one’s abilities are crucial, it is even more important to be a person of integrity and to choose the right path in life!
